The department of Categorical Programs and Student Support is responsible for:

  • Title I/Learning Assistance Programs
  • English Language Learner (ELL) Program
  • World Language Interpreters
  • Office of Civil Rights (OCR) compliance
  • Title IX
  • BECCA compliance
  • Middle and high school counseling
  • Drug and alcohol intervention
  • Mobile response team
  • Homeless Support Programs
  • Summer school (non-special education)
  • Non-special education alternative programs

The programs supplement the regular education services made available from basic education funding. The funds for these supplementary services come from state and federal sources with specific regulations that guide their use.

 

 

 Title I/Learning Assistance Programs:  Supplemental Reading and/or Math support for selected students is the focus for Title I and LAP resources. These programs serve specific schools that meet the criteria set by the federal and state governments.

English Language Learner (ELL) Program:  Students new to the United States who speak a language other than English are taught the English language as participants of the ELL Program. The services are available to each student who meets the criteria established by the state.
