Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) - Grades 3 through 8 for September Newsletter
All 3rd through 8th grade students will participate in the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) reading and math assessments between October 3 and 27, 2011. MAP is a computer-generated assessment that takes students about an hour to complete.
The MAP assessment is unique because the software adapts the questions to an appropriate level for your child's current understanding during the test. This unique level continues from one testing season to the next. As a result, each student has the same opportunity to maintain a positive attitude towards testing and gain an accurate measure of their proficiency.
The MAP assessment provides one "snapshot" of student performance. Used in conjunction with classroom assessments, results from these tests help students, teachers and parents better understand each student's progress toward meeting district standards for achievement. In addition, results help teachers and administrators identify strengths and areas for future improvement in our instructional programs. Test scores are available the day students take the test and teachers can access more information about each student at the end of the test window.
