Reading and Writing - teach as per literacy guide and curriculum guide

  • handwriting - focus on cursive letter fluency

Math - teach as per curriculum guide using

Science - teach as per curriculum guide using required topics/units

  • Basic-FOSS Kit-Magnetism and Electricity
  • Basic-FOSS Kit-Measurement
  • Pending Retire Status- STC - Rocks and Minerals

 

Social Studies - teach as per curriculum guide using

  • Discovering Washington , Ruth Pelz/Gibbs-Smith 1997 - purchased one class set (30 student texts) for every two teachers
  • Discovering Washington Teacher's Resource Package - purchased one Teacher Resource Package for every 4 th grade teacher
  • Junior Classroom Atlas Program , Rand McNally (30 atlases and 1 teacher's guide) - purchased one for every 4 th grade classroom
  • Washington State Studies Program , Rand McNally - Modified by BSD (30 two-sided state desk maps [22"x17"], 1 activity filled state activity guide plus 4 transparencies, 36 marking pens) - purchased one for every 4 th grade classroom.  Binders were modified for use by BSD teachers - 4 th grade binders include the original pages of the notebook through page 86 plus pages 119 and 120. Remainder of the pages from the binder were pulled for 7 th grade teachers.
  • World/U.S. Wall Map and Globe

Health - teach as per curriculum guide

The Great Body Shop Teacher's Guide (green binder), The Children's Health Market, Inc. (purchased one for every 4 th grade teacher)

  • required fourth grade hygiene unit "Be Cool, Keep Clean" (unit has been revised and condensed by BSD for use in our schools)
  • required fourth grade unit "No Smoking"
