Washington State Readiness to Learn Mission: Readiness to Learn promotes student success by facilitating the combined efforts of schools, families, and communities to address the needs of the whole child.
Since 1993, Whatcom County Readiness to Learn has grown from one school district to a countywide consortium involving all seven school districts, the business community, institutions of higher education, faith communities and human service organizations. Each district’s RTL program is unique and designed to meet specific local needs of students and their families.
The Bellingham School District Readiness to Learn Program focuses on removing non-academic barriers to student’s success in school by working on service integration and systemic change with an emphasis on homeless support coordination. RTL staff also provides linkages to Community Resource Information for district staff members and families.
The RTL/Homeless Support Program is coordinated by two full time employees, Patty Hoff and Roxana Parise and supervised by Kenn Robinson, Director of Categorical Programs and Student Support and District Homeless Liaison.
