Is a Bellingham School District application form required?
We require a District application unless you are currently employed by the District. Current District employees should submit a letter of interest (include specific job number) or Bid Form as required by applicable bargaining unit.
Do I need to apply for each position in which I am interested?
Yes.
Do I need to submit a new application packet each time I want to apply for a position?
No. We only need one packet of application materials, but please submit a new letter of interest (including specific job number) for each opening in which you are interested. If it has been a while since you submitted your original application, you may want to consider updating your resume (and any other information you feel needs updating) and obtaining new letters of recommendation. Bellingham School District does not utilize a specific form for recommendations, but encourages applicants to obtain letters of recommendation from current or former supervisors.
Do I need to fill out a different application for substituting?
No, only one application is required. In addition, submit the following information:
Certificated application: Check the box on the first page of the application indicating that you are interested in substitute teaching. You must submit a copy of your Washington State teaching certificate. Washington State certification is required to substitute in certificated positions.
Classified application: Check the appropriate box(es) on the first page of the application and complete the corresponding supplemental insert(s).
How long is my application kept on file?
We keep your application in "active" status through December of each year; however, application materials remain on file until December of the next year. We recommend that you submit updated application materials reflecting any changes in your status whenever appropriate. To keep your current application active into a new year, please send a letter of request to the Human Resources Department in November.
When do you post open positions?
Certificated: We typically begin posting positions for the following school year in March; however, this is dependent upon the finalization of State funding. We continue to post positions throughout the year as additional needs are identified.
Classified: We post newly opened positions as they occur throughout the year. We begin posting classified positions for the following school year in early July.
How can I find out about open positions?
Open positions are listed on our website or you may pick up a copy of the postings at the District Administration Office at 1306 Dupont Street, Bellingham, WA.
How do I know when a posting closes?
The closing date is listed on the job posting. Some positions are open until a qualified candidate has been selected.
How will I be notified regarding the status of my application?
We will call those candidates who have been selected and schedule an interview.
Candidates who have been interviewed will receive notification by telephone regarding the outcome of the interview.
