General Information for Paraeducator Positions
General Position Description
- Assist in both academic and non-academic areas by performing a wide variety of duties in and out of the classroom and/or office.
- Specific tasks include preparing lesson materials, assisting students with assignments, and supervising individual and/or groups of students during academic and non-academic times.
- Paraeducators in special education positions provide services to students with disabilities.
- Work under the direction of the principal, program supervisor, or designee.
- Salary range: $10.72 - $14.40 per hour.
Minimum Qualifications Include
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Ability to assist students with the instruction and supervision of students under the direction of a certificated instructor.
- Ability to perform instructional clerical tasks using computerized systems.
- Ability to type/keyboard a minimum speed of forty (40) words per minute required for some positions.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
