Lesson Writing Workshop
2007-2008
Twenty mathematics high school teachers and college instructors from across Whatcom County designed lesson plans based on the College Readiness Mathematics Standards.   These lessons ranged from Algebra I to post Algebra II material.  The final lessons have been compiled onto a CD and are listed below and ready for download.  In addition, one teacher was professionally filmed in the classroom teaching one of the lessons.  The DVD classroom sample lesson is available.

College Readiness Math Standards Posters
These posters illustrate the College Readiness Mathematics Standards and Student Attributes.  The Standards were completed in March 2006 by a core group of Washington state math and non-math educators through the Transition Math Project.  Each of the Standards defines the core knowledge and skills expected of students entering college-level mathematics courses.  The Student Attributes describes a set of student characteristics that math educators agreed were essential to succeeding in college-level mathematics classes.

WCMP, in conjunction with a statewide collaborative effort of high school and college math instructors, created the posters with the intent of illustrating the Standards and Attributes in a visually attractive format with student-friendly language.   The main message that we tried to convey is that understanding mathematical principals can help one acquire the learning processes and life skills needed to be successful in living and working in an increasingly challenging workforce and economy.

Student Attributes-One page handout to quickly remind your students and parents what it takes to make it in college.
