The Department of Communications and Community Relations supports video conferencing. The library program supports the Information Literacy Goals of the District (the Research Cycle and OSPI Technology GLEs) and are guided by National Guidelines, called Information Power.

Library Links

  • The District Video and Professional Library provides teachers access to materials needed for teaching. All materials are available for staff checkout.
  • Local Libraries contains links to the city and county libraries, and to the three high school libraries in Bellingham.
  • Teacher-Librarian job descriptions, related documents, calendars, and other resources on the Teacher-Librarian page.

Role of Teacher-Librarians

The teacher-librarian in each building provides student instruction and collaborates with classroom teachers to improve student technology & information literacy skills. Teacher-librarians in each building are the technology coordinators and web editors for their schools, in addition to providing traditional library services. Students and teachers needing help with computers are welcome to contact their teacher-librarian for help in their school.

Support for all school libraries in the Bellingham Public Schools is achieved through district-allotted funding per student, creating equity of access to library resources for all students, regardless of school attended. All librarians follow the Library Collection Management guidelines.
