Questions?
All district families should have received a postcard in mail on Aug. 27 with their child’s bus stop or walking information. If you did not receive this information, have misplaced it, or if you believe there is an error, please use the link above or call Transportation at 676-6546. Call volume is high during the first week of school as we assist families. If you do not reach Transportation, please leave a message and your call will be returned.

New Routing System
We are using a new transportation routing system and have found some errors in GPS mapping. Please contact Transportation at 676-6546 if you have any questions. Thank you for your patience as we implement this new system to improve efficiency and make our routes more environmentally friendly.

Walkers
Students living within a one-mile safe walking distance from school have received walking route information. (This is a straight-line, "as the crow flies", one-mile walking distance. The district partners with the City of Bellingham’s Safe Routes to School program to support families with resources such as a Walking School Bus, Bike Trains and other safe route resources.  If you have a question regarding walking routes, please call Transportation at 676-6546.

We understand that some Whatcom families did not receive a postcard or received incorrect route information. Transportation has been connecting with individual families to answer questions and provide details. We have been working on new bus routes for the past few months using a new computerized program. Part of that work involved exploring options for providing bus service directly to Geneva, Shuksan, and Fairhaven for Whatcom Middle School students. Unfortunately, we were unable to achieve a workable solution by the start of school because of the complexity of the routing involving such a large number of students, so many different neighborhoods, as well as the number of additional buses that would be required. While we aren’t able to implement a better solution by the start of school, we will be exploring other alternative options to reduce ride time for our Whatcom students. Our Superintendent Dr. Greg Baker is riding this route with students this week to gain a better understanding of the issue while we explore other options.
