Family Resources re: 13 Reasons Why

A Message from Student Services

Many students and staff are talking about the recent release of Netflix’s show “13 Reasons Why” season two. It’s a popular series, especially with middle and high school students. It is rated for mature audiences and references suicide, violence and other adult themes.

We wanted to provide some resources for families and remind you that our school staff are available for any student or family who needs support.

The JED Foundation provides a brief overview of the series here (updated for season two) and important tips of what viewers should consider.

They also offer talking points for parents from the Suicide Awareness Voices of Education (SAVE) here and a toolkit for viewers, including students, parents, clinicians and educators here.

Please reach out to your principal or school counselor if you have any questions or if your child needs support.
