New Food Services Account Notifications Starts Dec. 6

A Message from Food Services


Dear Families,

Beginning this Wednesday, Dec. 6, we will transition from using letters to notify families who have low or negative Food Services account balances to using SchoolMessenger to call, email or text parents in English and Spanish. You can update your contact preferences in Skyward Family Access, at the Skylert link, to make sure we have the correct email addresses and phone numbers. School registrars/offices can also update phone numbers and emails in Skyward.

The notifications will occur after school hours every Wednesday as follows:


  • Families who have a child with a negative account balance of $3.01 or greater will receive a phone call message to Family 1 in Skyward (this is a locked field and families cannot opt out of receiving this notification) and a text, if selected in your Skyward contact preferences.


  • Families who have a child with a negative account balance of $3.01 or greater will also receive a more detailed email in English and Spanish for each child to show how much payment is needed and for which child.


  • You may also opt-in to receive low balance notifications by phone, email or text in English or Spanish when your child’s account dips to $6 or less. You can do this by managing your contact preferences at the Skylert link. These optional messages that go out will be similar to those mentioned above.


Please contact Chef Patrick Durgan or Sue DeJong if you have any questions. Notifying families in this way will be more timely and convenient for our families, and eliminates our costs of printing and mailing letters.

We want to continue to serve nutritious, high-quality meals to all of our students, and your timely payment supports this. If you know that your student has a negative balance, please add funds to your child’s account as soon as possible. You may do so in-person at your child’s school with cash or check or by making a payment online. If you think your family might be eligible for free or reduced-price meals, please submit a school meal application. You may do this at any time during the school year. Applications are available at each school office, in the Family Handbook, or via Skyward Family Access. Applications are also available online.

You must submit an application each year to be considered for free or reduced price meals. Even if your child received free or reduced price meals last year, you must submit a new application this year. It is important to us that all eligible children receive free or reduced price school meals. We are happy to help you complete the application.
