Rockin’ for Kids, Summer Music Fun on June 30

A Message from the Bellingham Public Schools Foundation

The Bellingham Public Schools Foundation will sponsor the fourth annual Brother Ray’s Benefit for Sixth Grade Band Kids from 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 30 at Boundary Bay, located at 1107 Railroad Avenue in downtown Bellingham.

The family-friendly evening will feature local bands The Atlantics, Sapphire and members of the Bellingham Youth Jazz Band. Funds raised will go to the Ray Downey Band Fund of the Bellingham Public Schools Foundation honoring longtime Bellingham-based musician Ray Downey. The suggested entry donation of $5 supports sixth grade band students during their first year of playing a band instrument. (Children who are in grade 8 and under are free!) There also will be an onsite BBQ available for purchase.

Musical instruments of any kind can be donated during the event and will be lent out to aspiring student musicians in our schools.

Generous sponsors of this event include the Bellingham Festival of Music, Schlichting Wixson CPAs, Becky Brunk, Coldwell Banker BAIN, Bellingham Academy of Music, Riteway Electric, Bellingham High School Band Boosters and Squalicum High School Band Boosters.
