A Message from Superintendent Greg Baker
Welcome to Bellingham Public Schools!
We are excited to introduce you to our district, our schools and The Bellingham Promise.
The Bellingham Promise guides our work as a staff and as a community. It’s a strategic plan that is a living document that we continue to improve upon collaboratively, so that our vision, mission, values, outcomes and work priorities are always owned by students, staff, families, and our greater Bellingham community. Together, we make The Bellingham Promise a transparent, online document that is easily accessible and memorable for all.
If you haven’t already, we encourage you to check out our website at bellinghamschools.org.
You will find a lot of helpful information, including:
- bus information,
- bell times,
- the school year calendar,
- the school menus,
- the latest news,
- all of our school websites,
- special programs and services and so much more.
An important tip for navigating both the district and school websites is to click on “families” in the main menu. This drop down list includes links to some of the most frequently searched pages on our site. Or, use quick links located at the top of the district and school homepages.
Here are some additional links you may find helpful:
Who to contact: when you have positive feedback, concerns or questions about your child, a school- or district-related issue, who should you contact?
Project Free Education: an initiative where school supplies and some activities are provided at no cost to families.
Return home plan: you’ll also find this form printed in the forthcoming Family Handbook and Calendar, but you can also access it on our website. We ask that all elementary families fill out and return this form so we know where your child is going after school and who is authorized for pick up.
Our Promise Website: you can learn more about our students, staff and community partners throughout this portion of our website where we celebrate and recognize accomplishments and exciting news. We add stories and photos regularly throughout the school year.
For kindergarten families, visit our kindergarten webpage for ideas to help prepare your child for their first day of kindergarten, or take a moment to watch this Welcome to Kindergarten video and hear from our experts.
In August, please look for our back-to-school annual mailing, which is sent to all families. This packet includes our Family Handbook and Calendar (Spanish Version), and information from the Bellingham Public Schools Foundation. Also, keep a look out for information about Skyward Family Access. This is our student information system that allows families to track student attendance, grades and to set up contact preferences via Skylert.
Welcome again to Bellingham Public Schools, and I hope you enjoy the remaining weeks of your summer!
