Whatcom Middle School Update

The Bellingham School District Board of Directors unanimously adopted the recommended relocation plan at the Jan. 28 meeting for Whatcom Middle School students, following a thorough process of public input and researching the best possible options for student learning.

Relocation Plan Reminder

Sixth graders regularly attending Whatcom will attend Geneva School on the middle school schedule from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning fall 2010.

Seventh graders regularly attending Whatcom will attend Shuksan Middle School from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning fall 2010.

Eighth graders regularly attending Whatcom will be attend Fairhaven Middle School from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning fall 2010.

Bus Routes

New bus routes will be posted after Aug. 19 on the transportation website. In addition, AM routes will be mailed to all district families after Aug. 19 to provide this information prior to the start of school.

Please watch for more information coming from your school regarding opportunities to tour the school, meet staff and have your questions answered about athletics, activities and more.

Whatcom Middle School

Photo above: Whatcom Middle School was originally constructed in 1903, making it the oldest existing school building in the Bellingham School District.  Also known as North Side of Bellingham High, Whatcom High School received a large addition in 1916, tripling its size.  In 1937, it became Whatcom Junior High.  In 1967, it became Whatcom Middle School.
