2111 Policy – Instruction in Basic Skills and Work Skills

In order to assure that the Bellingham School District is complying with the basic skills, work skills, and course requirements of WAC 180-16-200, the superintendent shall establish procedures for verifying compliance at the beginning of each school year. Compliance will also be monitored during the year.

Procedures shall be established to provide for examining the proposed schedule and course offerings available to high school students before each trimester to determine if state requirements are being met.

Elementary curriculum and hours of attendance will be reviewed yearly to assure state requirements are being met.

A record of the secondary schedules and course offerings for each trimester and a record of the scheduled hours of instruction for both elementary and secondary students will be maintained.
