Bellingham Public Schools

Strategic Plan

Imported Content:

 Bellingham School District completed its last phase of strategic planning from 2005-10. During the 2010-11 school year, our community welcomed new superintendent Dr. Greg Baker and he spent the year listening and learning through an Entry Plan process. The following four areas of focus for school system emerged from that process and are explained in more detail in the Entry Plan Report to the Community:

  1. One Schoolhouse
  2. Early Childhood
  3. Secondary Innovation and Flexibility
  4. System Support for Teaching and Learning

We defined the purpose of the Entry Plan to provide a structure to support Dr. Greg Baker’s transition as superintendent for Bellingham Public Schools as he listened to students, staff, families and the greater Bellingham community to:

• Build public trust and strengthen engagement in our schools;

• Identify the district’s strengths, improvement opportunities and challenges; and

• Update the needs, objectives and work priorities of the school district as outlined in the district’s existing strategic plan to prepare all students for successful futures.

During the 2011-12 school year, we will continue to work with our community to use the Entry Plan learnings as the foundation for further developing and refining our next strategic plan's measurable goals and targets.
