Overview

The High School and Beyond Plan, a graduation requirement, helps students get the most out of high school and think about their future. Students work with school counselors and advisors to create their own individual plan, the “personal pathway”, throughout high school and revise their plan annually to accommodate changing interests or postsecondary goals on what they expect to do the year following graduation from high school.

The High School and Beyond Plan is divided into three modules – Career Planner, Four Year Plans, and Future Ready Skills. Students work on different activities at different grade levels, and by the time they graduate they will have created a comprehensive academic portfolio.

November - College Applications, Scholarships, Financial Aid, Internships, Apprenticeships and Job Searches

  • This month’s High School and Beyond Plan activity includes taking some time to work on college applications, scholarships and financial aid. Many of you will need letters of recommendation from teachers and counselors before winter break. Please keep in mind that your teachers and counselors receive many requests, and letters of recommendation take time to write, so please be proactive and submit your requests soon. Providing them with an academic resume is also helpful!
  • If you are looking at options other than a college or university, now is a good time to start thinking about internships, apprenticeships and entry level jobs that are available for high school graduates. It’s never too early to start exploring job listings to get an idea of what’s available.
