Graduation
A version of this message was sent to high school staff and seniors’ families on March 23.
Thank you for your patience as we have worked to finalize our school calendar and graduation dates. As you likely remember, we missed three days of instruction in November and January due to flooding and snow. Two days were/will be made up on March 11 and May 20, days which were built into our calendar as inclement-weather makeup days. We have just received word that the state is granting us a one-day waiver to avoid extending the school year or moving graduation. Families of the class of 2022, we thank you for your patience as the waiver process has taken longer than typical this year.
Please make note of the following important dates:
- Community Transitions (CT) program graduation is 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 9 at the Depot Market Square.
- The last day for seniors is Friday, June 10.
- Graduation events for Bellingham, Sehome, Squalicum and Options high schools will be held on Saturday, June 11 at Civic Field. See start times below.
- 10 a.m. Bellingham High School
- 1 p.m. Sehome High School
- 4 p.m. Squalicum High School
- 7 p.m. Options High School
- The last day of school for all other students remains Friday, June 17.
Class of 2022 graduates and families: please watch for more information from your school as we get closer to graduation.
All graduations, including CT’s event, will be streamed live and be available for later viewing, as well.
For planning, see our 2022-23 school year calendar and find other details about key dates.
Holidays
For planning purposes, the district and schools use this online reference guide for religious holidays: 2022 Interfaith Calendar: Major Religious Holidays, World Religion Holy Days (diversityresources.com)
When possible, staff avoid scheduling evening events and meetings on religious holidays in accordance with administrative procedure 2340P.
