Graduation

Update April 20, 2021

As we continue to plan for graduation in this unique school year, we want to thank our staff, families, students and community partners for providing input in our planning efforts. We are cautiously optimistic to announce that we are planning to host in-person graduation ceremonies at Civic Field for the class of 2021 on Saturday, June 12. The capacity and outdoor space at Civic allows us to stay within phase 3 restrictions and guidance from the Washington state Department of Health; however, it’s important to note that plans may be adjusted if our phase designation or other guidance changes.

Our tentative time schedule for the events are as follows:

  • 10 a.m. Squalicum High School
  • 1 p.m. Bellingham High School
  • 4 p.m. Sehome High School
  • 7 p.m. Options High School

As is typical for our high school graduations, we anticipate providing limited tickets per graduate for each of these four events. The number of tickets will be determined by the size of each graduating class and the capacity at Civic. All four high school graduation ceremonies will be live streamed for those unable to attend the event in person, and recordings will be available for viewing after the event. We plan to hold an in-person graduation event for graduates of our Community Transitions program on June 17, and we will share more details soon. This event will also be live streamed. The last day of school for seniors is Friday, June 11.

Holidays

For planning purposes, the district and schools use this online reference guide for religious holidays:  http://www.interfaith-calendar.org/

When possible, staff avoid scheduling evening events and meetings on religious holidays in accordance with administrative procedure 2340P.
