High School Turf Fields Community Meeting, Feb. 24

For the past two months, the High School Turf Fields Advisory Group has been hard at work learning about and researching synthetic turf fields to be installed at Bellingham and Squalicum high schools. These new fields have been made possible thanks to voters who approved a bond to fund this and other school facility projects in November 2013.

The advisory group is made up of students, staff, parents, community partners and neighbors who would like to give you a project update and seek your input on the plans for these turf fields during a community meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 24 in the library at Squalicum High School at 3773 E. McLeod Road. At the meeting, the advisory group will share the process, project update, timeline and preferred design concepts to seek verbal and written feedback. The advisory group will review and consider that input before finalizing its recommendation to the superintendent.

If you are not able to attend the meeting, but are interested in a project update, you may follow the advisory group’s work on the High School Turf Fields Advisory Group webpage where meeting minutes and other information is posted. Construction on this project is anticipated to begin in spring 2016 for the Squalicum High field and spring 2017 for the Bellingham High field.

We appreciate your support of our schools.
