Annual student information updates needed by Sept. 10; attendance, insurance and non-discrimination info

A Message from Bellingham Public Schools Student Services

Dear families,

The first day is nearly here, and this message is a reminder to all families to make some annual updates to their students’ information through Skyward Family Access. This email also contains some important reminders about student attendance, voluntary student insurance, and non-discrimination.

Important student information and updated forms

Each year, we require families to update annual forms through Skyward Family Access, including information on health concerns, emergency contacts, student privacy, student device checkout, go home plan for elementary students and more. The state of Washington has updated its race and ethnicity data collection form, and we are asking all families to complete this as part of our annual forms.

By Friday, Sept 10, please login to Skyward Family Access and look in the left sidebar for “Annual Student Updates 2021-22,” and fill out the annual forms for each child you have enrolled in our district.  Please note that it is easier to fill out these forms from a computer rather than a mobile device. If you have questions or need assistance with your Family Access account or filling out the forms, please contact your school.

Attendance reminders

Bellingham Public Schools works to ensure that all students fully benefit from their education by attending school regularly. Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school-and themselves. Your student can start building this habit at any age, but the earlier the better so they learn right away that going to school on time, every day, is important. Consistent attendance will help children do well in high school, college and at work.

We ask for your help in ensuring that your child attends regularly and is successful in school. If your student is going to be absent due to illness or other reasons, please contact your school’s office as soon as possible; ideally, the day prior or the morning of the absence.

Student Accident Insurance

For interested families, here is some information about voluntary student accident insurance for the 2021-22 school year.

Annual non-discrimination notice

In compliance with Washington state law, this email is our annual reminder of our anti-discrimination statement and your family’s options and rights regarding discrimination and harassment in our schools. To read our statement in full, please visit the non-discrimination notice on our website.

We wish all our students and families a successful 2021-22!
