End of the school year and the One Schoolhouse Award

A Message from Superintendent Greg Baker

Dear students, staff, families and community,

We made it! Here we are at the last week of school of an incredible, challenging and unforgettable school year.

This weekend we honored our graduating class of 2021 with in-person ceremonies at Civic Field. It was amazing to be surrounded by staff, students and families recognizing this incredible milestone for our seniors that have been so resilient this past year and so deserving of this celebration. You can see photos from our day at Civic and watch videos of Squalicum, Bellingham, Sehome and Options high schools’ graduation events.

It’s hard to believe that we started this school year remote. We welcomed back students in our schools in a thoughtful and intentional way, keeping safety in mind and by March, all students were back in schools at least part of the school day. I greatly look forward to the fall when we welcome students back to the classroom full-time.

Every spring, we have our annual staff recognition awards and this year is no different. You may remember I announced our 2021 recipients in April, but there is still one important award left; our One Schoolhouse Award.

Our One Schoolhouse Award is designed to recognize those who are advancing the success of everyone in our school system — beyond one classroom and any one school. And this year, this award goes to you!

Please take a moment to watch this video that reflects back on this incredible year and give yourself and others a well-deserved THANK YOU! 😊
