A Message from the Department of Communications and Community Relations
With a chance of snow in the forecast for next week, we wanted to remind you about our weather procedures.
Depending on conditions (which could include snow, flooding, power outages, etc.), school could:
- close for the day
- open two hours late with regular bus routes or snow bus routes
- open on time with snow bus routes.
Please familiarize yourself with our weather procedures here. We will use a variety of methods to keep you informed, including email; text; our website, bellinghamschools.org; local media (including KGMI, KOMO, KAFE and the Bellingham Herald) and our main district phone line at 360-676-6400. We also push out updates via Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. We encourage all families to check notification preferences in Skyward (via Skylert tab; visit our Skylert webpage for step-by-step directions). Please note that you may select a phone call “early a.m.” option, but we do not plan to use the call feature for this school year to increase the speed of our communications.
A flyer with this information was mailed or sent home to families in November. Snow bus routes are available here.
Lastly, we encourage you to be prepared at home. Websites such as Take Winter by Storm and The Red Cross provide valuable preparedness tips. Next week is looking cold, whether we have snow or not, please dress warm and be safe.
If you have any questions, please call 360-676-6520 during regular business hours.
