Second grade remote learning schedule adjustment begins Nov. 2

A Message from the Department of Teaching and Learning

Dear families with children in second grade,

We wanted to let you know that the Live Learning schedule for second grade students will change beginning Monday, Nov. 2. The 1 p.m. math session will be moved to 10 a.m., and all live learning (synchronous) sessions will now be in the morning.

Here is the adjusted schedule, beginning Nov. 2:

(Please note that end times are flexible. Math and literacy will last 30-40 min, depending on your child’s class.)

8:30-9 a.m.—Live Learning – Morning Meeting

10:00-10:40 a.m. —Live Learning – Math

11:00-11:40 a.m. —Live Learning – Literacy

We have made this adjustment to respond to two needs:

  • Families have requested to have second grade live learning times be 1) closer together, 2) in the morning, and 3) similar to the schedule for grades 3-5.
  • The 1 p.m. live learning time conflicts with the pick-up time for kindergarten and first grade students who are beginning in-person learning at our schools soon.  This is of concern to families who would need to be in two places at once. Therefore, we are making this adjustment to better serve families who have children in K or 1 as well as second grade.

We realize these adjustments will cause some disruption to established routines and schedules, including some scheduled family conferences and small groups. We will work together to make those adjustments and support one another in this schedule transition.

Thank you for your flexibility, and please reach out to your teacher or principal if you have any questions or needs.
