Update: future school boundaries

A Message from Superintendent Greg Baker

Dear students, staff, families and community,

Thank you to those of you who reached out to ask questions and offer feedback on the recent recommendation from our Attendance Areas PreK-12 Standing Committee.

As you may have read in my October message, this committee was tasked with recommending some adjustments to our middle and elementary school boundaries to better accommodate growth in the north part of town, balance enrollment and diversify the socioeconomic background of our schools.

I accept the committee’s recommendation, and we will be moving forward with the new school boundaries in fall 2021 and fall 2022. I want to recognize the committee for the time and effort they put into this process, which took over 18 months to complete.

I believe this was a collaborative, engaging process, and I appreciate that the group sought and incorporated input from many stakeholders, especially those school communities affected by the boundary shifts. Most importantly, I truly believe our community will benefit from these new attendance areas.

We will be sending follow up communications via email and U.S. mail before winter break to families affected by the new attendance areas in fall 2021 or fall 2022.
