6608 Policy – Video Cameras on School Buses

Bellingham Public Schools authorizes the use of video cameras for the recording of both images and sound on district-operated school buses. The purposes for recording the transportation environment include reducing discipline; answering questions; and providing documentation to school officials, bus drivers, and parents/guardians/custodians related to inappropriate behavior and/or other concerns that could adversely impact the safety and welfare of students and/or bus drivers. Disciplinary action will be in accordance with district policies and procedures.

The superintendent shall prepare procedures for use of the video equipment on buses, the authorized review process for videotapes, and the proper disposal of tapes.
